A partnership in sustainability

At Aquarius, environmental sustainability is at the forefront of what we do.

Each year, our products prevent hundreds of tonnes of fat, oil and grease from entering the sewer systems and the wider ecosystem. And that’s just the start.

When we visit you to collect your current grease trap, your FOG waste is emptied into silos back at Aquarius HQ. Every week our sustainability partner Brocklesby Ltd collects between 18 and 20 tonnes of waste from us and transports it to their site in East Yorkshire.

Once all of the water has been removed, Brocklesby Ltd is left with 6-7 tonnes of solid fat, oil and grease. This waste is processed into renewable sustainable feedstock for biofuels, with the finished bio fuels being supplied for use in road transport. The use of these biofuels results in a massive 84% reduction in carbon emissions compared to fossil fuels!

Brocklesby Ltd also create biofuels for use in power generation, as well as bio fertilisers. Once the FOG waste has been processed, there’s always a residue left over which isn’t the right quality for use in biofuels. But instead just disposing of it, the residue is added to an on-site anaerobic digester to produce gas, electricity and bio fertiliser to spread back onto the land and help grow new crops.

The ways in which FOG waste can be recycled is amazing, and we’re proud to be a part of the sustainability movement. And by using a Fogtrap/grease trap, you’re an integral part of environmental sustainability too.
